Galileo's Early Life
Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy in February 15, 1564 to a noble family but not very
rich. Galileo was oldest of seven children, he had four younger brothers and two younger sisters.
His father was a musician and wool trader and he wanted Galileo to learn about medicine. In
1574 he went to Jesuit monastery and in 1581 he entered the University of Pisa to study about
medicine but he wasn’t interested. Galileo got appointed to the chair of mathematics in Pisa in
1589.
